The first weekend in August we had a chance to go to Coos Bay! Here's what happened: Family friends (The Youngs) from way back when we lived in Maryland, (yes the place where I was born, so we are talking about nearly 30 years here) were coming out to Washington and Oregon (primarily) to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary (awesome, isn't it? 40 years!). They were going to be down in Coos Bay for the day on that Saturday, so we made plans and crashed our friends house, and had an awesome time!
Saturday we drove down & met up at Shore Acres with Rodger and Darlene Young and their friends/hosts/tour guides. We walked around the grounds with the boys going wild and having fun, went down to the beach, talked, caught up with each other, Rodger played flute on the beach. We then headed over to the Simpson Reef Overlook and enjoyed looking at the wildlife through the binoculars that they brought. (we keep thinking we need to get some of our own!) We saw Sea Lions, Seals, and even an Elephant Seal or two! It was so much fun and way to short of a visit!
Sunday we went to church, & saw lots of old friends. We sat next to the Crooks, whom Eison was apparently not shy around at all, which is rare to say the least! He kept playing over by Brother Crook and didn't worry one bit that he had never seen this person before. It was too cute! I forgot to bring anything to entertain Luke but the Pallo's were behind us and were kind enough to share toys with my boys. We spent time at the Putman's (miss you guys so much!!) and then saw some friends over at our host's house (Barbers, love you guys!).
Monday morning we went on a little hike/walk around Shore Acres with the Putman's, it was so fun, and the weather was AMAZING, cool and foggy, and just all around perfect! Then we had lunch with the Huff's, funny bit about them; I knew them at OSU (before and after they were married), not in Coos Bay. In fact, they moved there shortly after we moved away from there! We were in the same ward as Keith's family of course when we lived there, as that is from whence he came. Then Nathan made a dinner (and I assisted by making dough for naan) for our awesome hosts, and for a group of their friends from high school days (we knew some of the people, as in the Huff's and Corinne Potts), it also happened to be the birthday of one of the guests, so that was super fun! Nathan rocked the dinner, I got a wicked bad headache and the Barber's were awesome enough to pick up my slack and finish the naan! Keith (Huff) and Margaret (Barber) then played music and sang, and it was super fun :) Eison loved dancing along and whatnot, that boy LOVES music!
Now this has been a whole ton of yackity yak, and only I will ever be interested to read all of that, so here are some pictures from the fun times!
